| Why
are Sky replacing the Sky Viewing Cards? |
| Sky
utilizes the VideoGuard pay-TV scrambling system owned by NDS, a
News Corporation subsidiary. Sky are contract bound to replace their
cards every 5 years. This should have been last year however due
to the launch of Freesat, Sky were granted a one year extension. |
| When
will Sky start sending replacement Viewing Cards? |
| The
Sky card changeover is due to commence during the month of May and
will continue into the summer months. |
| Sky
have already started to send replacement cards to addresses in Scotland
in groups determined by postcode. There is no information yet when
they will start in the UK. |
| My
Sky Viewing Card was arranged without me giving an address, what will
happen now? |
| Many
people have there cards through a "hosting address", in
this case you must contact your dealer to see if you replacement card
has arrived, if not then you should leave your name, address and contact
number for when it does arrive. |
| I
used my address to register the card, what will happen now? |
| For
those people with Sky cards registered to their address in the UK,
you should receive a replacement card and all you need to do is remove
the old card, insert the new one and the card will initialize itself
automatically. |
| My
replacement card hasn't arrived yet, will i lose my pay channels? |
| Old
and new cards will run simultaneously for many months so do not panic
when you receive the on-screen message asking you to insert your new
Sky viewing card. |
| During
the coming months will be under a tremendous amount of pressure to
assist everybody with the process so rather than telephoning we would
appreciate if you could send an email with your name, address and
contact numbers so that we can contact you as soon as your replacement
card arrives. |
|
|
Please
understand that this is a logistical nightmare, especially for people
abroad and could take some time to receive your replacement Viewing
card. Your patience will be appreciated.
Please
understand that we are not in the UK/Ireland and that we are not
responible for Sky sending the replacement cards nor the postal
service.
